InRelease was created by InCycle Software, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and a leading provider of ALM consulting services for Microsoft.NET development teams.
InCycle provides deployment and coaching services for Microsoft development teams for the complete application lifecycle. It is in that context that InCycle developed an expertise in providing custom-made solutions for automating and managing the release flow for many of its customers.

From Team Release to InRelease
In 2007, the team developed a first version of InRelease called Team Release. This release management solution, based on work items in TFS, was sold to InCycle's customer base. Team Release managed the workflow associated with the release cycle. The automation of the actual installation was relying on a series of services that were installed and customized on an as needed basis. Brought on by the need to release more efficiently as teams are adopting agile practices, InCycle took up the challenge of fully automating the release process from TFS to production with predefined release paths and a business approval workflow. This second version of the software, renamed InRelease, was released in 2010.

InRelease goal
InRelease is now fast becoming the leader in agile release management for development teams using TFS. The objective of InRelease is to make the release process repeatable, reliable and more efficient across development, operations and quality assurance teams.
